A.-RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 'REDDING .
URGING THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 37902 OF THE CALIFORNIA
GOVERNMENT CODE, COMPETITIVE BIDDING THRESHOLD:
.WHEREAS, CaliforniaGovernment Code Section 37902 presently,
requires competitive. bidding on public projects where• the required •
expenditure exceeds $5, 000. 00, and
WHEREAS, that threshold has been in existence since 1975 , -
and "
WHEREAS, the $5, 000. 00 threshold, because of economic
• inflation, has substantially increased the number of situations where .
acompetitive bid is required, and therefore has increased the costs. •
to local .government, •
NOW, THEREFORE,, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the, City Council
.' of the City. of Redding urges the Sacramento Division of the. League of
California Citiesand the heague of California Cities to seek legisla
tion which will increase the competitive bidding threshold set forth
•
in California Gavetriment Code Section 37902 to the amount of $15 , 000: 00..
