HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 1983 - 026 - Establishing a juvenile officer/conselor position in the juvenile unit of the redding police department 411 e • RESOLUTION NO. j') ')L: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING ESTABLISHING A JUVENILE OFFICER/COUNSELOR POSITION IN THE JUVENILE UNIT OF THE REDDING POLICE DEPARTMENT TO EMPHASIZE CAUSE AND REHABILITATION AS OPPOSED TO DETENTION BY THE USE OF AN INTENSIVE COUNSELLING PROGRAM WITH THE DEPARTMENT AND • OTHER RELATED SERVICES. WHEREAS, the City of Redding desires to undertake a certain project designated Juvenile Officer/Counselor Diversion Project to be funded in part. from funds made available through the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 , Public .. Law 93-415 , administered by the Office of Criminal Justice Planning (hereinafter referred to as OCJP) . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Manager of the City of Redding is authorized to submit the attached Grant Application to OCJP and is authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Redding, the attached Grant Award, including any extensions or amendments thereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that grant funds received hereunder shall not be used to supplant local juvenile justice expenditures controlled by this body.
