Dear Gene:
You and I have previously discussed the problem concerning the • .
proper classification of Mr. William Andersen. As you know,
Mr. Andersen is presently classified as a Welder with a monthly
salary of $2,006. We are proposing a solution to this problem
by establishing a new job title of _lead Welder at a monthly
salary of $2,107. This monthly salary represents a mid-point
between the Welder's salary and the salary for Working Foreman- -
Welder.
Obviously the supervisory responsibilities for this classification a
will be less than that for Working Foreman-Welder. For example,
supervision of up to three (3) employees rather than the six (6)
mentioned in the description for Working Foreman-Welder. The
job definition proposed for this job classification is as follows:
"An employee who is a leadman in charge of not more than
three (3) employees (exclusive of himself) engaged in --
. performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties
related to all types of welding, fabrication -and the
• operation of metal shop tools. He shall have the •
personal qualifications of leadership and supervisory
ability and he familiar with the City's construction
and.safety standards, accounting procedures, and all
other City rules and regulations. "
If you concur with the foregoing proposal, please sign the enclosed
letter agreement and return as soon as practical.
• Sincerely, ,
