HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 1984 - 060 - Authorizing the installation of traffic control devices at the intersection of royal oaks drive and scenic drive i • RESOLUTION NO. 8Y- (2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AT THE INTERSECTION OF ROYAL OAKS DRIVE AND SCENIC DRIVE. WHEREAS, stop intersections are defined by Section 11 . 04. 090 of the Redding Municipal Code and are illustrated on the Traffic Control Map adopted by Section 11. 04 . 020 of the Redding Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, said Section 11. 04. 020 specifically provides that the City Council may amend said Traffic Control Map from time to time by resolution; and WHEREAS, Section 11 . 08 . 010 of the Redding Municipal Code grants the City Council exclusive power and a duty to place and maintain traffic control devices when and as required; and WHEREAS , the Traffic and Parking Commission has recommended traffic control devices be installed as outlined below to provide the public with adequate signing needs; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best inter- ests of the citizens of the City of Redding to adopt such recom- mendations; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that this matter is categor- ically exempt from the provisions of CEQA; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as follows: ('J s • 1 . That the Traffic Control Map adopted by Section 11 . 04 . 020 of the Redding Municipal Code is hereby amended by the installation of the following traffic control devices : a. A stop sign be installed for westbound traffic on Royal Oaks Drive at Scenic Drive; and b. A stop sign be installed for southbound traffic on Scenic Drive at Royal Oaks Drive; and no person shall hereafter operate a motor vehicle contrary to said signs. 2. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to install appropriate signs and markings to accom- plish the purpose of this resolution.
