A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
PERTAINING TO FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT AND ESTABLISHING
EXEMPT POSITIONS
WHEREAS, the United States Supreme Court has ruled that the
Fair Labor Standards Act is now applicable to State and Local
governments effective April 15 , 1985 with enforcement by the
Department of Labor to begin October 15 , 1985 .
WHEREAS , The Fair Labor Standards Act specifies that
employers may exempt from overtime payments certain categories of
employees such as administrative, professional and executive.
WHEREAS, The City of Redding has analyzed duties of positions
in the City' s work force and determined that those positions on
the attached Exhibit "A" are exempt from the overtime provisions
of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redding that the City Council does hereby adopt Resolution
No. 85-218 , effective October 7, 1985 , which describes the
positions exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced
and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Redding on the 7th day of October , 1985 , and
was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote :
