RESOLUTION NO. 151/7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING OF
INTENTION TO BEGIN LEGAL PROCEEDINGS OF ABATEMENT UNDER
CHAPTER 9 . 36 OF THE REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE ON CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF REDDING (OWNED BY BRUCE AMES, ET
AL. , AND LOCATED AT 2036 RAILROAD AVENUE) .
WHEREAS , the provisions of Chapter 9. 36 of the Redding
Municipal Code provide that all buildings or structures located
within the City of Redding which are structurally unsafe or are
dilapidated from old age, neglect, decay or other causes which
constitute a fire menace or are dangerous to human life or a
likely resort for vagrant or dissolute persons, may be declared a
nuisance by the City Council of the City of Redding and there-
after abated as provided therein; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Marshal of the City of Redding has made an
inspection of the building located on real property as herein-
after described and has declared it to be unsafe and/or a hazard
to safety, health and public welfare; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that this matter is categor-
ically exempt from the provisions of CEQA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redding that it is the intention of this City Council to
begin legal proceedings of abatement under Chapter 9. 36 of the
Redding Municipal Code on the following described property:
The real property situate in the City of Redding, County of
Shasta, State of California, described as follows :
Commencing at a point on the east line of Court Street, �*4�
distant thereon 100 . 00 feet south from the southwest corner
of Lot 2 , Block 71 , Frisbie ' s Addition, as shown on the map

entitled, "Map of Frisbie ' s, Walden' s and Honn' s Additions
to the Town of Redding, Shasta County, California" , filed in
the office of the County Recorder of said Shasta County, in
Volume of Old Plats at page 43; thence easterly at right
angles to Court Street to a point on the westerly right of
way line of Railroad Avenue , said point being the southeas-
terly corner of the property known as the Hartsough Lot,
said point also being the true point of beginning; thence
westerly along the south line of said Hartsough Lot 170 . 00
feet, more or less, to the northeasterly corner of the
property conveyed to J. M. Dixon by Deed recorded June 9,
1922 in Book 153 of Deeds at page 51 , Shasta County Records;
thence along the easterly line of said Dixon Parcel
southerly 100 . 00 feet to the southerly line of the property
described in the Deed to R. B. Sewell recorded December 9,
1901 in Book 86 of Deeds at page 504 , Shasta County Records;
thence along the south line of said Sewell Parcel easterly
to the westerly right of way line of Railroad Avenue; thence
along said right of way line northerly to the point of
beginning.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said building mentioned herein-
above is hereby declared to be a public nuisance as provided by
Chapter 9 . 36 of the Redding Municipal Code and is hereby ordered
to be abated by repair, rehabilitation, demolition or removal.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Fire Marshal and the Board
of Appeals of the City of Redding are hereby directed to take all
proceedings provided in Chapter 9. 36 of the Redding Municipal
Code.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Redding be and hereby is authorized and directed to forward a
certified copy of this resolution to the Shasta County Recorder
for recordation.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was intro-
duced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Redding on the 18th day of March , 1985 , and
