A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING OF
INTENTION TO BEGIN LEGAL PROCEEDINGS OF ABATEMENT UNDER
CHAPTER 9. 36 OF THE REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE ON CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF REDDING (OWNED BY MARTHA K. AND ROY
K. MARTIN AT 4970 WESTSIDE ROAD, NUMBERS 1 THROUGH 10) .
WHEREAS, the provisions of Chapter 9. 36 of the Redding
Municipal Code provide that all buildings or structures located
within the City of Redding which are structurally unsafe or are
dilapidated from old age , neglect, decay or other causes which
constitute a fire menace or are dangerous to human life or a
likely resort for vagrant or dissolute persons, may be declared a
nuisance by the City Council of the City of Redding and there-
after abated as provided therein; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Marshal of the City of Redding has made an
inspection of the buildings located on real property as herein-
after described and has declared them to be unsafe and/or a
hazard to safety, health and public welfare; and
WHEREAS , it has been determined that this matter is categor-
ically exempt from the provisions of CEQA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redding that it is the intention of this City Council to
begin legal proceedings of abatement under Chapter 9. 36 of the
Redding Municipal Code on the following described properties :
The real property situate in the City of Redding, County of

Shasta, State of California, described as follows:
COMMENCING at a point on the West line of California State
Highway as the same existed October 11 , 1937 , from which the
East quarter corner on the East line of Section 15 of the
private survey of the P.B. Reading Grant as per ma.p filed in
the office of the County Recorder of Shasta County, bears
North 2° 23 ' 4.2" West 4911 . 31 feet; thence, South 83° 57 '
West 30 feet to the true point of beginning of this descrip-
tion; thence from said point, South 83° 57 ' Westp645. 4 feet
to the East line of the land conveyed to Russel W. Birge, et
ux. , by deed dated May 7 , 1937 , recorded in ! Book 126 ,
Official Records , page 23; thence, North 1° 28 ' 12" West 75
feet; thence, North 83° 57 ' East 637. 16 feet to a point on a
line drawn North 7° 45 ' West through the true point of
beginning; thence, South 7° 45 ' East along said line so
drawn, 75 feet to the true point of beginning.
EXCEPTING THEREFROM that portion conveyed to State of
California by deed dated May 2 , 1951 , recorded June 21 ,
1951 , Book 244 , Official Records , page 447 , Shasta County
Records.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said building mentioned herein-
above is hereby declared to be a public nuisance as provided by
Chapter 9 . 36 of the Redding Municipal Code and is hereby ordered
to be abated by repair, rehabilitation, demolition or removal.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Fire Marshal and the Board
of Appeals of the City of Redding are hereby directed to take all
proceedings provided in Chapter 9 . 36 of the Redding Municipal
Code.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Redding be and hereby is authorized and directed to forward a
certified copy of this resolution to the Shasta County Recorder
for recordation.
