RESOLUTION NO. 37 -30_2.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 4-10 , 1987 , AS "PUBLIC POWER WEEK. "
WHEREAS , the City of Redding has been and is celebrating its
100th birthday throughout 1986 and 1987 ; and
WHEREAS , the City of Redding has owned and controlled its
own electric utility since 1921 ; and
WHEREAS , the City' s utility provides the citizens of Redding
and consumers with efficient, reliable and cost-effective
service; and I�
WHEREAS , the City' s public power system operates without
profit, allowing all benefits to flow entirely to our community
and its citizens and consumers; and
WHEREAS , community-owned public power systems ensure
competition and, thus , lower rates nationwide thr9ughout the
entire electric utility industry; and
WHEREAS, more than 2 , 000 public power systems across the
country will join together the week of October 4-10 , 1987 , to
celebrate the contributions of community-owned public power;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Rlldding City
Council proclaims October 4-10 , 1987 , as "Public Power Week" in
the City of Redding during this centennial year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that during this centennial year,
this community join with others served by locally-owned electric
systems in a celebration of public power; and I
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this community should) undertake
appropriate activities in recognition of public power and its
wide-ranging benefits.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adjourned
introduced and read at a regulaV meeting of the City Council of
the City of Redding on the 29th day of September , 1987 , and was
duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
