CIT MANAGE' FROM: Director of Finance
/ SUBJECT: Housing Authority Furniture
--Request for Supplemental
Appropriation IIS
Background
The Housing Authority will be moving into the Community Cottage
building this month. Because adequate furniture is not available
from the City in order to provide for the Housing Authority' s needs,
it is proposed that $28 ,000 be committed to acquire modular furni-
ture. The furniture to be acquired is according to the City agreement
with TAB Furniture and will be compatible with the modular furniture
acquired by the City. No funds were budgeted for this purpose in the
FY 87/88 budget.
There are funds available for the furniture from Federal grants
received by the Housing Authority. The availability of these funds
is the result of savings in administrative costs associated with
Housing Authority programs . These savings must be used for housing-
related purposes.
The Budget Services Officer confirms the availability of funds.
Issues
Should the Council adopt the attached Resolution appropriating
$28 , 000 from Housing Authority surplus funds to acquire modular
furniture?
Alternatives and Implications of Alternatives
1 . Adopt the attached Resolution. The Housing Authority would
acquire compatible furniture with the City and would be able to more
effectively utilize its space.
2 . Do not adopt the attached Resolution. The Housing Authority
would have to seek furniture through other means or do without.
Conclusions and Recommendations
That Council adopt the attached resolution approriating 1$28 ,000 for
the acquisition of modular furniture for the Housing Authority.
