A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING OF
INTENTION TO BEGIN LEGAL PROCEEDINGS OF ABATEMENT UNDER
CHAPTER 9 . 36 OF THE REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE ON CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF REDDING (OWNED BY WILLIAM C. MELENDY
AND GENEVRA A. MELENDY) .
WHEREAS, the provisions of Chapter 9. 36 of the Redding .
Municipal Code provide that all buildings or structures located
within the City of Redding which are structurally unsafe or are
dilapidated from old age, neglect, decay or other causes which
constitute a fire menace or are dangerous to human life or a
likely resort for vagrant or dissolute persons , may be declared a
nuisance by the City Council of the City of Redding land there-
after abated as provided therein; and

WHEREAS, the Fire Marshal of the City of Redding has made an
inspection of the building located on real property ! as herein-
after described and has declared it to be unsafe and/or a hazard
to safety, health and public welfare; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that this matter is categor-
ically exempt from the provisions of CEQA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redding that it is the intention of this City Council to
begin legal proceedings of abatement under Chapter 9. 36 of the
Redding Municipal Code on the property described in Exhibit "A"
attached hereto and made a part hereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said building mentioned herein-
above is hereby declared to be a public nuisance as provided by v'

Chapter 9. 36 of the Redding Municipal Code and is hereby ordered
to be abated by repair, rehabilitation, demolition or removal .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Fire Marshal and the Board
of Appeals of the City of Redding are hereby directed to take all
proceedings provided in Chapter 9. 36 of the Redding Municipal
Code.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Redding be and hereby is authorized and directed to forward a
certified copy of this Resolution to the Shasta County Recorder
for recordation.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was intro-
duced and read at a regular meeting of the City Courcil of the
City of Redding on the 1st day of September , 1987 , and
was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:

NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None

DESCRIPTION
The real property referred to -. herein is situate in the
City of Redding, County of Shasta, State of California, described
as follows:
All that portion of Lot 18, as shown on the Map of Bonny View Tract
as per plat recorded in Book of Old Plats at page 27, Shasta County
Records, described as follows:
BEGINNING at an iron pipe set in the Northwest corner of said Lot
18; thence North 67°00' East along the Northerly line of said Lot
18, a distance of 115.95 feet; thence South 10°00' East a distance
of 177.00 feet; thence North 72°07 '48" East a distance of 120.04
feet; thence North 67°55 '06" East a distance of 121.57 feet; thence
South 84°10' East a distance of 127.12 feet to the Easterly liner
of the property described in the deed to Paul J. Smalley, et ux.,,
recorded July 30, 1946 in Book 255 of Official Records at page 228,
Shasta County Records; thence South 9°10'48" West along said Easterly
line a distance of 576.84 feet to an iron pipe Marked RE 5438 which
point is also the Southeast corner of the property described in
said deed to Paul J. Smalley, et ux. ; thence North 87°20' West along
the Southerly line of said Smalley property a distance of 50O.25q
feet to the Southwest corner thereof; thence North 7°45 ' West along
the Westerly line thereof a distance of 584.08 feet to the point
of beginning.
