HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 1987 - 118 - Approving the proposal from the united stated department of the interior, fish and wildlife service, division of ecological services with regard to the spawning gravel 111 • RESOLUTION NO. g(7-1/5 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING APPROVING THE PROPOSAL FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR, FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE, DIVISION OF ECOLOGICAL SERVICES, WITH REGARD TO THE SPAWNING GRAVEL SURVEY STUDY FOR THE LAKE REDDING POWER PROJECT, FERC #2828 , AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION. WHEREAS, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has established a deadlinE of August 1 , 1987 , for the City to complete a new spawning habitat study for the Lake Redding Project; and WHEREAS, in order to increase the possibility of agency acceptance of the proposed new habitat studies, the United States Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) , has agreed to perform the most subjective portion of the proposed study, which is using scuba diving techniques to map the existing gravel areas; and WHEREAS, staff has recommended that said study be limited to mapping the Keswick Dam to Market Street Bridge Reach, for a total cost of $15 , 940 . 00 as outlined in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as follows: 1 . That the City Council of the City of Redding hereby approves entering into an agreement with the United States Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service, to provide the City with a mapping study of the Keswick Dam to Market Street Bridge Reach, at a total expenditure of $15 , 940. 00 as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto; and 2 . That the Mayor of the City of Redding is hereby authorizedand directed to sign all necessary documents on behalf of the City of Redding in connection therewith, and the City ›, 1 NIN • Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to attest the signature of the Mayor and to impress the official seal of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documents, when appropriate.
