City Council , Adjourned Regular Meeting
City Hall Conference Room
Redding , California
April 17, 1984 12:15 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gard with the following Council
Members present: Fulton, Pugh, and Gard. Council Members absent: Demsher
and Kirkpatrick.
Also present were City Manager Courtney, City Attorney Hays, Public Works
Director Arness , Electric Director Lindley, Finance Director Downing, City
Treasurer Cassiday, City Clerk Nichols, and Minute Clerk Rupp.
RESOLUTION - Certifying Canvass of Ballots , Redding Municipal Election,
April 10, 1984

City Clerk Nichols advised that she has canvassed the returns of the
General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, April 10, 1984, and certified
the results shown on the draft resolution.
It is the recommendation of the City Clerk that the resolution be adopted.
MOTION: Made by Council Member Pugh, seconded by Council Member Fulton
that Resolution No. 84-89 be adopted, a resolution of the City Council of
the City of Redding declaring the results of the General Municipal Election
held in the City of Redding on April 10, 1984.
Voting was as follows:
Ayes: Council Members - Fulton, Pugh, and Gard
Noes: Council Members - None
Absent: Council Members - Demsher and Kirkpatrick
Resolution No. 84-89 is on file in the office of the City Clerk.
OATHS OF OFFICE - City Council Members and City Treasurer

City Clerk Nichols administered the Oaths of Office to incumbent City
Council Members Barbara Gard and Lee Fulton, and the appointed incumbent
City Treasurer Beverly Cassiday.
ELECTION OF MAYOR AND VICE-MAYOR
(A-050-060)
Mayor Gard asked for nominations for the Office of Mayor.
MOTION: Made by Council Member Pugh, seconded by Council Member Fulton
that Council Member Kirkpatrick be appointed Mayor.
Voting was as follows:
Ayes: Council Members - Fulton and Pugh
Noes: None
Absent: Council Members - Demsher and Kirkpatrick
Abstain: Council Members - Gard
Mayor Gard asked for nominations for the Office of Vice Mayor.
MOTION: Made by Council Member Fulton, seconded by Council Member Pugh
that Council Member Gard be appointed to the office of Vice Mayor.
Voting was as follows:
Ayes: Council Members - Fulton and Pugh
Noes: None
Absent: Council Members - Demsher and Kirkpatrick
Abstain: Council Members - Gard
