HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2021-141 - Establishing The Electric Utility Rates For Service To Customers Within The Corporate Limits Of The City Of Redding �soLUTION No. �0�1-1�1 A RESOLUTION QF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY t)F REDDING ESTABLISHING THE ELECTRIC UTILITY RATES FOR SERVICE TO CUSTOMERS WITHIN THE C4RPt�RATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF REDDING EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2022, AND JANUARY 1, 2023, AND ADOPTING A RESIDENTIAL MULTI-FAMILY RATE WHEREAS: A. Sectian 14.22.170 of the Redding Municipal Code provides that the City Council shall establish eleetrie utility rates by resolution; and B. Far the reasons set out in the report to Council, it has been recommended that the City Council adopt new, residential multi-family service and new, increased eleetrie utility rates; and C. These rates have been studied by means of rate study dated November l, 2021, which is hereby incorporated by reference into this Resolution; and D, The City Couneil has carefully c�nsidered this recommendation; reviewed the existing electric utility rate structures; studied the tariffs required to cover the adjustments for 2422 and 2023, including thereby the rate study dated November 1, 2021; and deems it to be in the best interest af the City af Redding to establish the new, revised, and adjusted electric rates as proposed; NO�V, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as follows: 1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein as findings of fact and are true and correct. 2. Pursuant to Section 14.22.170 of the Redding Municipal Code, the City Couneil hereby adopts the rates and fixed eharges set forth in the Exhibit A,attached and incorporated herein,and directs staff to appropriately ineorporate the same into the eleetric utility rate tariffs. 3. That the purpose far the imposition of the increases and ather changes are as follc�ws: (1)to meet operating expenses and to fund State-mandated programs; {2)ta meet financial reserve needs and requirements; (3}to obtain funds for capital projeets necessary�to maintain service reliability and improve electrieal infrastructure; and {4) ta meet new campliance requirements as mandated by federal and State 1aws. 4. That the residential multi-family service rate established herein does not exceed the east of providing service to that customer class. 5. That the increases to electric utility rates set forth herein do not, and wi11 not when implemented, exceed the cost of providing service to REU customers. 6. That the City C1erk and the Financial �fficer of the City of Redding are hereby directed ta maintain available certified copies of this resolution in their respective offices for inspeetion and review by any interested persons or persons.
