HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso. 1987-010 - Commending robert e. courtney upon his retirement for his services RESOLUTION NO. 87-10 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING COMMENDING ROBERT E. COURTNEY UPON HIS RETIREMENT FOR HIS SERVICES TO THE CITY OF REDDING. WHEREAS, Robert E. Courtney began his service to the City of Redding in 1959 as its Finance Director, holding the position for 23 years, and in that capacity being directly responsible for establishing a sound fiscal position for the City; and WHEREAS, in addition to his duties as Finance Director, Robert E. Courtney became Assistant City Manager for the City of Redding in 1971 , instituting and maintaining state of the art computer facilities which have placed Redding in the forefront of cities utilizing computer technology for records management and financial systems; and WHEREAS, Robert E. Courtney was an initial member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Center Board of Directors , serving from 1968 to 1974; and WHEREAS, Robert E. Courtney became City Manager for the City of Redding in December, 1982; and WHEREAS, Robert E. Courtney has been active in formulating the policies relating to public power in the City of Redding, as well as throughout the State of California; and WHEREAS, Robert E. Courtney was instrumental in the development and ultimate construction and operation of the Redding Museum and Arts Center; and WHEREAS, Robert E. Courtney was supportive of the expansion I . N • and development of facilities at the Redding Municipal Airport through the leveraged usage of federal funds; and WHEREAS, Robert * E. Courtney has supported the acquisition and development of park lands in general, and the Sacramento River Trail in particular, throughout his City service; and WHEREAS, Robert E. Courtney has supported economic development through industrial promotion and the establishment of the Tourist and Convention Bureau; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding to commend Robert E. Courtney for his 30 years of total public service, and to express its deepest appreciation to him for the 28 years of dedicated service he has performed for the City of Redding. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was intro- duced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 19th day of January, 1987, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Fulton, Dahl, Carter, Gard, Johannessen NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None 14).
