AMENDMENT TO THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN
THE CITY OF REDDING AND
LOCAL 1934 OF INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS, AFL-CIO
9.2(b) For twenty-four (24) hour shift employees a work period
(duty cycle) shall be twenty-four (24) days. The first work period
will begin on January 11, 1987 and continuing thereon. The duty
cycle shall begin on January 11, 1987 for "A" Shift , January 14, 1987
for "B" Shift , and January 12 , 1987 for "C" Shift . (See attached
Exhibit C. ) The duty cycle shall be made up of eight (8) twenty-four
hour duty shifts per twenty-four (24) day cycle. The duty cycle
shall be comprised of one hundred eighty-two (182) hours of straight
time and ten ( 10) hours of overtime at time and one-half the straight
time hourly rate. This system will work out so that each twenty-four
(24) hour shift employee will work eight (8) shifts in a twenty-four
(24) day work period and either four (4) or five (5) shifts in a bi-
weekly pay period. Because of this variation from one (1) bi-weekly
pay period to another, each twenty-four (24) hour shift employee will
be paid on a bi-weekly basis according to his hourly rate (see Exhibit
"A" ) times two thousand nine hundred and twelve (2912 ) ( fifty-six (56)
hours times fifty-two ( 52) weeks) divided by the number of pay periods
in a year (normally twenty-six (26) ) .
9. 3(b) For twenty-four (24) hour shift employees, overtime is de-
fined as time worked in excess of regularly scheduled time. Time
worked as used herein shall include time absent with pay, such as
vacation, sick leave, emergency leave, etc. , but shall not include
time worked as a result of voluntary shift trades. Overtime shall be
computed to the nearest one-quarter (1/4) hour .
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have executed this amendment to
the current Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Redding
and the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local Union 1934,
