HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - unsigned - 1995-01-17 - Special City Council, Special Meeting City Council Chambers 1313 California Street Redding, California January 17, 1995 6:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Anderson with the following Council Members present: P. Anderson, Kehoe, McGeorge, Murray and R. Anderson. Also present were City Manager Warren, Assistant City Manager McMurry, Director of Planning and Community Development Perry, Interim City Attorney Calkins, and City Clerk Strohmayer. Also present were outside legal counsel Dugan Barr and Leonard Wingate. CLOSED SESSION (A-050-050 & L-100 & C-070-010) Mayor R. Anderson stated that the City Council would adjourn to closed session to discuss the following: a) Pursuant to California Government Code Section 54957: Public Employment -City Attorney Discussion; b) Conference with Legal Counsel-Anticipated Litigation: Significant exposure to litigation pursuant to subdivision (b)(1) of Section 54956.9 of the California Government Code: 1 Case (GEC Alsthom Electromechanique Inc. v. City of Redding). The facts and circumstances pursuant to Section 54956.9(b)(3)(b) of the California Government Code are that the claim arose out of the MLP contract and there is a dispute regarding payment for the work performed by GEC Alsthom Electromechanique Inc. c) Pursuant to California Government Code Section 54956.8: Conference with Real Property Negotiator-Property: Assessor's Parcel No. 65-72- 08; Negotiating Parties: Phil Perry on behalf of the City of Redding and Marilyn Goodfield; Under Negotiation: Purchase by the City of Redding. At the hour of 6:00 p.m., Mayor R. Anderson adjourned the meeting to closed session. At the hour of 7:07 p.m., Mayor R. Anderson reconvened the meeting to regular session. MOTION: Made by Council Member P. Anderson, seconded by Council Member Kehoe, authorizing the City Manager to negotiate a contract to employ Leonard Wingate as City Attorney. The Vote: Unanimous Ayes Mayor R. Anderson stated the City Council had nothing to report concerning GEC Alsthom Electromechanique Inc. v. City of Redding or the conference with the real property negotiator. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, at the hour of 7:09 p.m., Mayor R. Anderson declared the meeting adjourned.
