HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - unsigned - 1989-08-16 369 8/16/89 City Council, Adjourned Regular Meeting De Mercurio's Restaurant 1647 Hartnell Avenue Redding, California August 16, 1989 12:30 p.m. The Adjourned Regular Meeting was called to order by Mayor Carter with the following Council Members present: Buffum, Dahl, Fulton, Johannessen, and Carter. Also present were City Manager Christofferson, Assistant City Manager McMurry, City Attorney Hays, Department of Public Works Director Galusha, Director of the Electric Utility Lindley, Director of Finance Downing, Personnel Services Director Bristow, Museum Director Foster, Science Museum Director Howe, Public Information Officer Hastings, Administrative Assistant Anstine, and City Clerk Nichols. MEETING WITH STATE SENATOR JIM NIELSEN (A-050-060) Mayor Carter welcomed State Senator and Mrs. Jim Nielsen and Administrative Assistant Cheri Beck. Mayor Carter thanked Senator Nielsen for meeting with Council and staff to discuss broader current issues. The meeting was turned over to Senator Nielsen, and some of the topics touched upon were as follows: North State water, funding infrastructure, Mt. Shasta Ski Park, timber resources, transportation, LAFCO, the University of Shasta Action Committee, proposed gas tax bill, insurance rates, rural school unification, and binding arbitration. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mayor Carter complimented Senator Nielsen and thanked him and his staff for being very helpful in representing the City's interests. He noted that Administrative Assistant Cheri Beck is well respected in the area. Senator Nielsen expressed his pleasure in working with the Council and staff in Redding. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, at the hour of 1:50 p.m., Mayor Carter adjourned the meeting to 5:15 p.m., Tuesday, August 22, 1989, at the City Hall Conference Room, 760 Parkview Avenue.
