A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
COMMENDING CAROLYN BOND FOR HER DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE
CITY OF REDDING FROM JUNE 1977 TO JUNE 1988 .
WHEREAS, Carolyn Bond was a Charter Member and Founder of
the Redding Museum and Art Center; and
WHEREAS , Mrs. Bond held the positions of Volunteer,
Director, and Curator of the Redding Museum and Art Center from
its inception in 1966 to 1976 ; and
WHEREAS, Mrs . Bond has served the City of Redding as
Director of the Redding Museum and Art Center for a period of
four years, and as Museum Curator for sevenyears, building a
cultural facility of excellence for the community; and
WHEREAS , during her tenure as Museum Director, the Redding
Museum and Art Center has developed a number of innovative
programs , such as the Art Faire, Native American Heritage Day,
and Southeast Asian Cultural Day, in addition to greatly
enriching the general Museum program; and
WHEREAS , Mrs . Bond has been a prime mover in the development
of a plan for the proposed Museum Complex at Turtle Bay, which
will serve the City for many decades into the future; and
WHEREAS , Mrs . Bond has made other significant contributions
to the community through her work with the American Association
of University Women (who honored her as its Woman of the Year in

1977) , First Methodist Church, Shasta Storytellers Group, PEO
Sisterhood, and as a teacher; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her service to the Redding Museum
and Art Center, Carolyn Bond has given great support to the
Carter House Natural Science Museum; and
WHEREAS , Mrs . Bond is retiring from City service in June
1988 ;
IT IS, THEREFORE, RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Redding hereby commends Carolyn Bond on her accomplishments
and her contributions to the City of Redding and the citizens of
this community, and extends best wishes to Carolyn and Bob for a
well-earned, long, and productive period of retirement.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Redding on the 5th day of April, 1988 , and was duly
adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
