RESOLUTION NO. 88-78
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING IN
OPPOSITION TO SENATE BILL 34 , THE DELTA LEVEE COMPROMISE
BILL.
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 34 , the Delta Compromise Bill, has been
introduced by Senators Dan Boatwright (D-Concord) , Ruben Ayala
(D-Chino) , and John Garamendi (D-Stockton) ; and
WHEREAS , said Bill would set aside $120 million over the
next 10 years to rehabilitate and maintain levees in the Delta;
and
WHEREAS, in addition, $50 million over the same period would
be used to improve water quality and provide extra protection for
fish and wildlife in the Delta, San Francisco Bay, and Salton
Sea; and
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of
Redding that said Bill does not accommodate the problems of
Northern California with regard to water usage, but instead
appears to favor Southern California water interests to the
detriment of Northern California;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Redding opposes SB 34 , the Delta Compromise Bill, and
urges its defeat.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of

duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
