O. /7-42 1A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE IN
THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN REDDING ON
TUESDAY, APRIL 10 , 1990 , PERTAINING TO MATERIALS SUBMITTED
TO THE ELECTORATE AND THE COSTS THEREOF.
If
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding,
State of California, in compliance with Section 10012 of the
Elections Code of California, does hereby set forth the following
regulations to be followed, applicable to a candidate' s statement
of qualifications , whether the election be held by the City of
Redding itself or by the County of Shasta for and on behalf of
the City.
Section 1 . Each candidate for elective office in the City
of Redding may prepare a statement of qualifications on an
appropriate form provided by the City Clerk. Such form may
include the name, age, and occupation of the candidate and a
brief description (not more than 200 words) of the candidate' s
education, experience, and qualifications as expressed by the
candidate personally.
Section 2 . Such statement shall be filed in the office of
the City Clerk when the nomination papers are returned for
filing.
Section 3 . The City Clerk shall mail to each voter a sample
ballot and a voter' s pamphlet which contains the written
statement of each candidate ' s qualifications as filed by the
candidate.
Section 4 . The City Clerk shall estimate the maximum total
cost of printing, handling, and mailing of the candidates ' state-
ments , including costs incurred as a result of complying with the
Voting Rights Act of 1965 , as amended; and shall require each
candidate filing a statement to pay his or her pro rata share of

said estimated total cost at the time of filing, as a condition
of having his or her statement included in the voter' s pamphlet.
In the event of underpayment, the City Clerk shall prorate
the underpayment amongst the candidates, and require each
candidate to pay their share of the balance of the costs incurred
to the City Clerk within thirty (30) days of the election.
In the event of overpayment, the City Clerk shall prorate
the excess amount amongst the candidates, and refund the same to
the candidates within thirty (30) days of the election.
Section 5 . Candidates for elective office will not be
permitted to prepare other materials to be sent separately to
each voter in addition to the sample ballot and the voter' s
pamphlet.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Redding on the 5th day of December, 1989 , and was
duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
