A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
PROCLAIMING MARCH 27 THROUGH APRIL 2 , 1989 , AS SHASTA
DIXIELAND JAZZ FESTIVAL WEEK.
WHEREAS , the fourth annual Shasta Dixieland Jazz Festival
will be held in Redding on March 31 and April 1 and 2 , 1989 ; and
WHEREAS, the Shasta Dixieland Jazz Festival has been rated

among the best in the western United States, and it is estimated
that 15 ,000 jazz enthusiasts will be attending this year' s event;

and
WHEREAS , 18 Dixieland Bands, including 12 bands traveling
from six states and from British Columbia, will be playing at
various locations in the City; and
WHEREAS , among the many special events to be held, the
Asphalt Cowboys will be conducting a special City-wide Pancake
Breakfast in Lake Redding Park on Saturday morning, April 1 , at
which three Jazz Bands will play; and
WHEREAS , the Jazz Festival Committee, comprised of many
volunteers throughout the City, spends countless hours planning
and organizing this highly successful event; and
WHEREAS, the greater Redding area has shown overwhelming
support for this annual Festival; and

WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Redding wishes to
formally recognize and support the Shasta Dixieland Jazz
Festival;
I NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED by the City Council
of the City of Redding that March 27 through April 2 , 1989 , is
hereby declared Shasta Dixieland Jazz Festival Week.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
, . introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Redding on the 271Jt day of March , 1989 , and was
duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
