RESOLUTION NO. 89-77
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING COMMENDING
HAROLD A. "BUD" HOMAN FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF
REDDING FROM DECEMBER 1 , 1982 , THROUGH MARCH 31, 1989
111,' WHEREAS, Bud Homan has served the City of Redding as its
Airports Director and Assistant Director for a period of seven
years, and during that time supervised the financing, design, and
construction of a wide range of major improvements at Redding
Municipal Airport and Benton Airpark; and
11! WHEREAS, Bud has made a major and lasting contribution to
aviation in Redding through long-term planning and the tireless
pursuit of Federal and State funds for airport capital improvements ;
and
WHEREAS, Bud served his country for 31 years in the United
States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Colonel, culminating a
career which included 100 combat missions over North Vietnam,
participation in the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Commander of the 25th.
Air Division; and
WHEREAS, Bud, through his military service and gallantry, has
been decorated with the Silver Star, Legion of Merit with one oak
leaf cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross with two oak leaf clusters,
Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with ten oak leaf clusters, Air
Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster , Presidential
Unit Citation Emblem, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award Emblem,
Vietnam Service Medal with four stars , Republic of Vietnam Gallantry
Cross Unit Citation and the Vietnam Air Service Medal; and

WHEREAS, Bud has contributed to his profession through service
to the American Association of Airport Executives and the California
Association of Airport Executives, the League of California Cities,
and other professional organizations; and
•
WHEREAS, Bud' s civic contributions have included working
closely with the Exchange Club of Redding to make the Redding Air
Show one of the finest in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Bud has been a devoted father to his four children,
Hal, Bill, Carrie, and Tim; and

WHEREAS, Bud Homan is retiring from City service on March 31,
1989,
IT IS, THEREFORE, resolved that the City Council of the City of
Redding hereby. commends Bud Homan on his accomplishments and his
contributions to the City of Redding and its residents , the aviation
community and the traveling public, and the United States Air Force
and all his fellow citizens, and extends best wishes to Bud and
Eileen for a well-earned, long, and productive period of retirement.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced
and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Redding on the 21st. day of March, 1989 , and was duly adopted at said
meeting by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS Buffum, Carter, Dahl , Fulton, and Johannessen
NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS None
