A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING SUPPORTING THE REDDING AREA BUS AUTHORITY'S PROPOSED INTERMODAL PASSENGER TRANSFER FACILITY. WHEREAS, as the City of Redding' s population and workforce increase, the need for alternative transportation methods also increases; and WHEREAS , the increase in vehicles commuting to and from work contributes to Redding' s overall traffic congestion; and WHEREAS , the Redding Area Bus Authority, in cooperation with the California Department of Transportation, promotes alternate modes of travel versus the single-occupant vehicle in the Redding Area; and WHEREAS , the Redding Area Bus Authority' s proposed inter- modal passenger transfer facility will help reduce traffic congestion, air pollution, and parking needs, and will ensure a healthier environment for the citizens of the Redding area; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding strongly supports the Redding Area Bus Authority in its development of an intermodal passenger transfer facility, which would be a vital part of the Redding Area' s circulation program.
