A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
RECOGNIZING THE OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AND ENERGETIC
DEDICATION TO PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY SERVICE OF POLICE CAPTAIN
JACK W. MCDONALD; CONGRATULATING CAPTAIN MCDONALD ON HIS
APPOINTMENT AS POLICE CHIEF FOR THE CITY OF BETHEL, ALASKA;
AND WISHING HIM AND HIS FAMILY GREAT SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS .
WHEREAS, Captain Jack W. McDonald has worked for the City of
Redding Police Department for over 24 years; and
WHEREAS , during those years Captain McDonald has been a
highly dedicated officer, inspirational department leader,
energetic innovator for police science techniques and ideas, and
a key role player in bringing the department to its present high
level of training and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, during those years Captain McDonald has (among many
other things) received college degrees in police science, public
administration and submitted a master' s thesis in public adminis-
tration and political science, graduated as a member of the first
class of the Peace Officers Command College, participated in
countless police training programs and seminars, helped create
train the Police Department' s Special Emergency Response and
Hostage Negotiations Teams , and authored a number of nationally
known and respected police training manuals; and
WHEREAS, Captain McDonald has made invaluable contributions
to the community' s welfare by (among many other things) serving
on the local Advisory Board for the Salvation Army, the Advisory
Committee for the California Office of Criminal Justice Planning,
the California Patrol Officers Association Motor Vehicle Legis-
lation Committee, the Advisory Council for California State
University, Chico Center for Economic Development & Planning, the
Redding Chamber of Commerce Export Council, serving as a

facilitator for the Redding Chapter of the World Futures Society,
and maintaining active membership in the Redding Kiwanis Club and
Mountain Bible Fellowship.
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Redding to recognize Captain Jack W. McDonald for his
energetic dedication and outstanding service to the Police
Department and community welfare; and to congratulate him on his
appointment as Police Chief for the City of Bethel, Alaska.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council extends
Captain Jack W. McDonald and his family great future success and
happiness in Alaska.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was intro-
duced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Redding on the 20th day of February , 1990 , and was
duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
