HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2021-047 - Applications for unencumbered Airport improvement Program (AIP) Entitlement Grand FundsRESOLUTION NO. 2021-047 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATION FOR AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (AIP) GRANT MONIES TO ACCOMPLISH CAPITAL PROJECTS AT REDDING MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AND BENTON AIRPARK AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE APPLICATION AND ALL SUBSEQUENT DOCUMENTATION TO NECESSARY TO OBTAIN FAA GRANT MONIES AND MATCHING FUNDS, AND APPRORIATE THE FUNDING TO THE AIRPORT FUND WHEREAS, the FAA District Office has recommended that applications for unencumbered Airport improvement Program (AIP) Entitlement Grand Funds be submitted; and WHEREAS, there is a significant need for the Preliminary Design Concept Study for Runway 16-34 at Redding Municipal Airport, the Airport Layout Plan with Narrative and AGIS Aeronautical Survey for Benton Airfield, the Runway 15-33 MAGVAR and TAXIWAY "A" Pavement Preservation Design at Benton Airfield; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the City apply for U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, AIP Grants in the amount of $780,383 to accomplish the projects outlined in Exhibit A, a true copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Redding that a Federal AIP grant be acquired; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that for the projects outlined in Exhibit A, the City Council of the City of Redding hereby authorizes: The filing of an application for an FAA Airport Improvement Program Entitlement Grant; and 2. The City Manager, or his designee, on behalf of the City of Redding, to execute the FAA Application form, including the Acceptance of the Grant Offer, to obtain the necessary FAA funding to complete the project identified in Exhibit A, and to appropriate all funds obtained for these projects to the Airport Fund; and 3. The City Clerk to attest the signature of the City Manager, or his designee, and to impress the official seals of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documentation, when appropriate.
