A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
COMMENDING LOU GERARD, JR. , FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, Lou Gerard, Jr. , has provided positive and imaginative
leadership to the Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce since 1983;
and
WHEREAS, his leadership and state-wide reputation as an
effective representative of business have been instrumental in
strengthening the Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce in its growth
from 500 members to over 1200 , its transition from a weak to a
strong financial position, and through the development of over 25
active committees; and
WHEREAS, Lou has been responsible for a close Chamber/City
relationship, providing beneficial results for business and the
community at large; and
WHEREAS, Lou has had a major influence on the creation of such
important community institutions as SHARE, Leadership Redding, the
Forward Redding Foundation, the University of Shasta Action
Committee, the Industrial Barbecue, the Dixieland Jazz Festival, and
others; and
WHEREAS, Lou, as a native Californian, has made other signifi-
cant contributions to his community through his professional activ-
ities in education, his church, his family, the United Way, the
Grand Jury, Rotary International, and numerous committees and
commissions; and
WHEREAS, Lou is retiring from his position as Executive Vice
President of the Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce, closing
another chapter in his very active life of service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Redding extends its profound thanks to Lou for his many
contributions to the City of Redding and the community generally;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Redding City Council wishes Lou
and Diane and their family the greatest of happiness in well de-
served retirement.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced
and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Redding on the 21st day of may 1991, and was duly adopted at said
meeting by the following vote:
