A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
SUPPORTING SHASTA 2000 , A SYMPOSIUM FOR PLANNING OUR
COMMUNITY' S FUTURE.
WHEREAS, civic leaders, citizens, governmental agencies, and
other specialists are being assembled at Shasta College on
Saturday, April 20 , 1991 , to participate in a public forum to
discuss the issues affecting our quality of life in Shasta County
!� and to explore planning options; and
WHEREAS, Shasta 2000 will provide the opportunity for dialogue
and work to identify the forces shaping our future and to form long
and short term goals. This process will help ensure public
participation and positive action in the future so that we plan our
growth and not simply react to it. From the information generated,
we can then benefit from other communities' experience and turn
their hindsight into our foresight; and
WHEREAS, the primary task of the symposium' s workshops is to
set goals for the future of the community after having thoroughly
discussed the problems and options; and
WHEREAS, the participation of City staff and elected officials
is essential to the success of Shasta 2000 , and is, therefore,
encouraged;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Redding City
Council declares its support and approval for participation in
Shasta 2000 , a symposium for planning our community' s future.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced C

and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Redding on the 5th day of February , 1991 , and was duly adopted
at said meeting by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Dahl , Fulton , Moss & Buffum
NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Arness
