A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
ORDERING THE VACATION AND ABANDONMENT OF A BLOCK OF
BUTTE STREET BETWEEN EAST STREET AND LIBERTY STREET
(A-2-90) .
WHEREAS, certain real property, namely the Butte Street
right-of-way adjacent to Redding Medical Center, as more
particularly described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and
incorporated herein by reference, has been heretofore dedicated
to the City of Redding, as the same is set forth on a map and/or
plan on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of
Redding, which right-of-way is more particularly shown in Exhibit
B attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Redding
held a public hearing regarding the proposed abandonment of the
block of Butte Street between East Street and Liberty Street, and
at the conclusion of said hearing recommended that, subject to
the conditions hereinafter set forth, said block of Butte Street
be vacated; and
WHEREAS, it is believed by and appears to the City Council
of the City of Redding that obtaining signals and street
improvements as proposed by Redding Medical Center is more
desirable than keeping the block open; and TIC"

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redding elects to
proceed in this matter under the provisions of the Public
Streets, Highways, and Service Easements Vacation Law as the same
is set forth in Section 8300 , et seq. , of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, after a public hearing, City Council adopted
Resolution No. 90-344 declaring its intention to abandon said
block of Butte Street, subject to the conditions set forth in
Section 2 below, with the finding that said Butte Street right-
of-way is not needed for present or prospective street purposes;
and
WHEREAS, City Council, on August 7 , 1990 , adopted a negative
declaration, subject to traffic signal and street improvement
mitigation measures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redding as follows:

1. That all of the foregoing recitals are true and
correct.
2. That the City Council vacates and abandons the block of

Butte Street between East Street and Liberty Street, as described
in Exhibit "A11 and shown in Exhibit "B, " subject to the following
conditions:
(a) The City of Redding and Redding Medical Center entering
into a written agreement setting forth, inter alia,
where the improvements are to be installed, when the
i construction would occur, and when the street could be
closed.
(b) The City retaining a public-service easement across the
entire vacated area, until such time as all utilities

are relocated outside the vacated area as per the
Director of Public Works.
(c) That this Resolution shall not be recorded unless the
terms of the executed Development Agreement between the
City of Redding and Redding Medical Center are
fulfilled pursuant to Section 11. 3 of said Agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall certify to
jthe passage and adoption of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Redding on the 7th day of April, 1992, and was duly
adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
