CITY OF REDDING AUTHORIZING STAFF TO NEGOTIATE A CONTRACT FOR THE SALE OF REDDING POWER SURPLUS MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION. WHEREAS, the Electric Department has been contacted by 11 companies interested in buying or auctioning the Redding Power surplus equipment and materials; and WHEREAS, it is staff ' s recommendation that the City should move as quickly as possible in order to optimize the timing of the sale with respect to the lumber industry' s spring and summer season; and WHEREAS, the Electric Department believes that it would be beneficial for the City to bypass the formal technical consultant selection procedures in order to save time and expedite the sale; IT IS, THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as follows: 1. City Council hereby waives its Policy No. 1501 pertaining to the selection of technical consultants in order to expedite the sale of Redding Power surplus materials and equipment. 2. Staff is hereby authorized to negotiate a contract for the sale of said materials and equipment. I 3 . The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute I said contract documents on behalf of the City of Redding, upon approval as to form by the City Attorney; and the City Clerk is i hereby authorized and directed to attest the signature of the Mayor and to impress the official seal of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documents, when appropriate.
