HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 92-012 - Pertaining to the Record Searchlight Half Marathon held on 01/11/92 Caldwell Park & Sac River Trail t RESOLUTION NO. /Z' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING PERTAINING TO THE RECORD SEARCHLIGHT HALF MARATHON TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 11, 1992, FROM 6 A.M. TO 3 P.M. IN CALDWELL PARK AND ON THE SACRAMENTO RIVER TRAIL, SPONSORED BY THE REDDING SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB. WHEREAS, the Redding Sunrise Rotary Club is sponsoring the Record Searchlight Half Marathon to be held on Saturday, January 11, 1992 , from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Caldwell Park and on the Sacramento River Trail; and WHEREAS, the Police and Public Works Departments have stated that various areas need to be closed to vehicular traffic to assist in mitigating some of the impacts of such an event; and WHEREAS, staff has requested guidance as to whether the City Council wishes to close certain streets for this event, subject to certain conditions set forth below, and, if so, has recommended that Riverside/Benton Drive from Center to Quartz Hill, the Eastbound lanes of Quartz Hill from Market to Harlan, and Caldwell Park be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, January 11, 1992, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. ; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as follows: 1 . That Council has considered the above matter and deems it to be in the best interests of the City to close certain streets to vehicular traffic during the Record Searchlight Half Marathon, SUBJECT TO the Redding Sunrise Rotary Club complying with the following conditions set forth by the Recreation and Parks Commission: a. The Redding Sunrise Rotary Club coordinate the event with the Redding Police Department, Traffic Control Division. P b. An adequate Insurance Certificate be filed in the Risk Manager' s office by January 3 , 1992. C. That the Redding Sunrise Rotary Club be responsible for all cleanup at the Sacramento River Trail and Caldwell Park; and that a $300 cleanup fee be deposited with the City Clerk prior to the event, refundable upon adequate cleanup of the area. d. Adequate trash receptacles shall be made available in locations where the public will congregate. e. Adequate portable toilet facilities shall be provided. f. Officials of the event shall monitor pedestrian traffic to ensure that wildlife and riparian habitat along the Sacramento River are not disturbed. g. The Sacramento River Trail shall remain free of permanent markings: i.e. lime, chalk, spray paint, etc. 2 . That the Chief of Police, in cooperation with the Director of Public Works, is directed to prevent vehicular traffic on Riverside/Benton from Center to Quartz Hill, the Eastbound lanes of Quartz Hill from Market to Harlan, and Caldwell Park on Saturday, January 11, 1992 , from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 7th day of January, 1992, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: ARNESS, BUFFUM, FULTON, MOSS & DAHL NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS: NONE ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS: NONE MIKE DAHL, Mayor City of Redding ATTEST: FORM PROVED: J CONNIE STROHMAYER, 1 ty Clerk ALL A.
