A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING DECLARING
SEPTEMBER AS REDDING SYMPHONY MONTH.
WHEREAS, the Redding Symphony Association was incorporated in
1988 for the purpose of forming a symphonic orchestra composed of
semi professional and professional musicians who perform quality
classic music, thereby broadening and enhancing the depth and scope
of available musical performances in the community of Redding; and
WHEREAS, the Redding Symphony has become a vehicle of artistic
expression for musicians from Oregon to San Francisco who join
talented Redding musicians, enjoying an environment that is
nurturing to the musicians as well as members of the audience who
may be hearing classical music for the first time, and;
WHEREAS, the Redding Symphony has outgrown facilities at
Foothill High School due to its development and popularity, and
will be moving to the Redding Convention Center for its inaugural
season, November 14 , 1992 ; and
WHEREAS, this growth has also resulted in the formation of a
support group called the Redding Symphony League which serves as a
vehicle for people from diverse sections of our community to
express their dedication and commitment to this important cultural
resource; and
WHEREAS, the Redding Symphony will be expanding the number of
concerts this year from three to five including, for the first
time, two special children' s concerts designed to introduce young
people to the joys of classical music; and
WHEREAS, John Hess, conductor of the Redding Symphony has
greatly enhanced the spirit of creativity and musical
professionalism of the Redding Symphony, thereby helping to further
the reputation of Redding as a center for varied cultural
experiences in the north state; and
WHEREAS, the Redding Symphony is embarking on a major drive in
September designed to let people know that everyone is encouraged
to become involved by attending concerts and by participating in
both the Redding Symphony Association and the Redding Symphony
League through their financial support.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
Redding hereby declares the month of September, 1992 , as Redding
Symphony Month in our community and commends the Redding Symphony N
Association for bringing the cultural experience of classical music
to the citizens of Redding. {�

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced
and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Redding on the 18th day of August, 1992 , and was duly adopted at
said meeting by the
