HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 93-379 - Rejecting all bids for one arial boom tree trimming truck (B/S 2802) declaring that the required unit may be acquired in the open market, & authorize the negotiation thereof RESOLUTION NO. 93- 3-7q A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING REJECTING ALL BIDS FOR ONE AERIAL BOOM TREE TRIMMING TRUCK (BID SCHEDULE 2802) ; DECLARING THAT THE REQUIRED UNIT MAY BE ACQUIRED IN THE OPEN MARKET; AND AUTHORIZING THE NEGOTIATION THEREOF AND THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT BY THE CITY MANAGER. I WHEREAS, the City Council called for bids for one aerial boom tree trimming truck for the Recreation and Parks Department in Bid Schedule No. 2802; and WHEREAS, the bid opening was held October 5 , 1993 ; and WHEREAS, four bids were received, which did not meet the City' s security requirements; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has advised the City Council that in his opinion he can obtain a new or used unit at a price favorable to the City of Redding, and not exceeding available budgeted funds, by negotiating in the open market; and WHEREAS, the City Council has carefully studied the afore- said matter, and has determined that the recommendation of the City Manager is in the best interests of the City; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that this matter is categor- ically from the y exem t p provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as follows: 1. That the foregoing recitals are true and correct. 2. That the four bids received under Bid Schedule No. 2802 are hereby rejected. 3 . That it is the opinion of this City Council that �J through negotiations one new or used unit that meets the City' s J:1 specifications can be acquired in the open market at a price favorable to the City of Redding. 4. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to enter into negotiations for and execute the necessary contract for said unit.
