A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
APPROVING ENDORSEMENT OF PROP 168
WHEREAS, there is a need to reduce government barriers to affordable housing
development in order to create construction of housing for low-income seniors and families;
and
WHEREAS, PROP 168 updates a law that requires local governments to hold an election
before building publicly-supported housing; and
WHEREAS, PROP 168 preserves the right of citizens to petition to place the issue of a
housing project on the ballot in instances where it is controversial; and
WHEREAS, California voters will have the opportunity to vote for legislation which will
have a major impact on the construction of affordable housing by voting for PROP 168; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redding finds that PROP 168 will encourage affordable housing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE/T RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby
endorses PROP 168.

members of the City Council of the City of Redding at a regular meeting held on the 21st day
of September, 1993, by the following roll call vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS Anderson, Dahl, Kehoe, PIoss and Arness
NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS None
ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS None
ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS None
