HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 93-351 - Authorizing sale of recycled Green Waste Productsf , RESOLUTION NO. 93- 3.5/ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF RECYCLED GREEN WASTE PRODUCTS. ,I WHEREAS, approximately 490 of the 34, 447 vehicles that entered the Benton Transfer Station in 1992-93 came to use the free green waste drop-off area; and WHEREAS, the large quantities of green waste generated through the City' s brush diversion program have dramatically increased the material processing time, requiring more than two work shifts per day, and at times the renting of an additional loader and tub-grinder; and WHEREAS, in an effort to recover some of the costs of providing this service, the General Services Department recommends that various grades of processed green waste material be sold at fair market value prices, as determined by the Director of General Services; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interests of the City and its citizens that the Solid Waste Division of the City recover some of its costs in processing the green waste products; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby authorizes the Solid Waste Division to sell various grades of processed green waste material at fair market value prices to be determined by the Director of General Services, provided that each purchaser of said material holds the City harmless therefrom and signs a Liability Release in a form to be approved by the Risk Manager of the City.
