A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
APPROVING ENTERING INTO A CONTRACT WITH SHARRAH DUNLAP
SAWYER, INC. AND AUTHORIZING:
(1) THE MAYOR TO SIGN THE CONTRACT FOR SERVICES
BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDDING AND SHARRAH DUNLAP
SAWYER, INC. FOR THE BUCKEYE WATER TRANSMISSION
MAIN/MISCELLANEOUS CONSTRUCTION SURVEYS, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $38,500.00; AND
(2) THE APPROPRIATION OF AN ADDITIONAL $3,850.00 (10%)
FOR CONTINGENCIES.
WHEREAS, concurrent with this Resolution, City Council has
awarded three construction contracts for the Buckeye Water
Treatment Plant Project; and
WHEREAS, it is also necessary to enter into a contract for
the surveying and staking required during construction of the
Project; and
WHEREAS, Sharrah Dunlap Sawyer, Inc. , as subconsultant to
Boyle Engineering, conducted all of the design and property line
surveys for the Project, including setting aerial control points,
providing control survey between points, providing topographic
information at critical locations, and locating property corners
adjacent to the water main; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the design surveys, Sharrah Dunlap
Sawyer Inc. prepared all of the legal descriptions and exhibits
for the acquisition of rights-of-way; coordinated other
subconsultants in obtaining the rights-of-way; and met with many
of the landowners, learning their concerns with respect to the
pending construction; and
WHEREAS, it has been proposed by the Public Works Department
that for the reasons set forth herein the City of Redding enter
into a contract with Sharrah Dunlap Sawyer, Inc. for the Buckeye
Water Transmission Main/Miscellaneous Construction Surveys, in an
amount not to exceed $38,500 . 00; and that a further sum of
$3,850 . 00 ( 100) be appropriated for unforeseen contingencies; and
WHEREAS, the selection of Sharrah Dunlap Sawyer, Inc. will
benefit the City in the following ways:
1. All of the Project' s control survey data is presently
contained in its computers, with additional
intermediate control points between aerial flight
crosses;
2. Verification of aerial control survey by others will
not be required; and
3 . Their knowledge of property corners located during the
design surveys will lead to efficient establishment of
easements and the constraints of same;
_., NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of ,, l

the City of Redding as follows:
1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct.
2. Council believes that entering into a Contract for
Services with Sharrah Dunlap Sawyer, Inc. will benefit the
citizens of Redding because of the lower costs of service.
3 . Council hereby waives its Policy No. 1501 pertaining to
the selection of technical consultants inasmuch as time is
critical; and it appears that Sharrah Dunlap and Sawyer, Inc. can
provide the best service for the least cost.
4. City Council hereby approves entering into a contract
with Sharrah Dunlap and Sawyer, Inc. , in an amount not to exceed
$38 , 500. 00.
5. The Mayor of the City of Redding is hereby authorized
and directed to sign the contract on behalf of the City of
Redding, when approved by the City Attorney; and the City Clerk
is hereby authorized and directed to attest the signature of the

Mayor and to impress the official seal of the City of Redding
thereto.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced and read at an adjourned regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Redding on the 25th day of June, 1993 , and
was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
