A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
PERTAINING TO THE JOHN FRANK NORCAL RUN TO BE HELD ON
SATURDAY, MARCH 27, 1993, FROM 6 A.M. TO 3 P.M. IN CALDWELL
PARK AND ON PORTIONS OF THE CITY STREET SYSTEM, SPONSORED
BY S.W.E.A.T.
WHEREAS, the Shasta Wonderland Elite Athletic Team (S.W.E.A.T. )
is sponsoring the John Frank NorCal Run to be held on Saturday,
March 27, 1993, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Caldwell Park and on
portions of the City street system; and
WHEREAS, the Police and Public Works Departments have stated
that various areas need to be closed to vehicular traffic to assist
in mitigating some of the impacts of such an event; and
WHEREAS, staff has requested guidance as to whether the City
Council wishes to close certain streets for this event, subject to
the conditions referenced below, and, if so, has recommended that
Riverside/Benton Drive from Center to Quartz Hill, the Eastbound
lanes of Quartz Hill from Market to Harlan, and Caldwell Park be
closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, March 27, 1993, from 6 a.m.
to 3 p.m. ;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redding as follows:
1 . That Council has considered the above matter and deems it
to be in the best interests of the City to close certain streets to
vehicular traffic during the John Frank Norcal Run, SUBJECT TO the
conditions set forth in the Special Event Application/Permit on file
with the City Clerk.
2 . That the Chief of Police, in cooperation with the Director
of Public Works, is directed to prevent vehicular traffic on
Riverside/Benton from Center to Quartz Hill, the Eastbound lanes of
Quartz Hill from Market to Harlan, and Caldwell Park on Saturday,
March 27, 1993 , from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced
and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Redding on the 16th day of March 1993, and was duly adopted at
said meeting by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Anderson, Arness , Dahl , Kehoe and Moss
NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
