A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
PROCLAIMING MARCH 29 THROUGH APRIL 4, 1993, AS
SHASTA DIXIELAND JAZZ FESTIVAL WEEK.
WHEREAS, the Eighth Annual Shasta Dixieland Jazz Festival
will be held in Redding on April 2, 3 , and 4, 1993 ; and
WHEREAS, outstanding national and international jazz bands,
friendly hospitality, and geographic beauty attract jazz
enthusiasts to what is touted as the Best Festival on the West
Coast; and
WHEREAS, in its eighth year, the Shasta Dixieland Jazz
Festival is rated among the best in the United States, and is
expected to exceed last year' s Festival in attendance and
community involvement; and
WHEREAS, the 1993 Festival Schedule consists of 21 Dixieland
bands—three from Canada, Finland, and Australia, respectively;
and 18 from the United States, including some of the nation' s top
vocalists and local bands—who will be entertaining crowds at
various locations in the City with their unique brands of jazz;
and
WHEREAS, renown jazz musicians such as Big Tiny Little, Ruby
Wilson, and Bob Baker are also scheduled to perform; and
WHEREAS, among the many special events to be held in the
City, the Asphalt Cowboys will conduct a special City-wide
Pancake Breakfast near the lawn area at the Convention Center on
Saturday morning, April 3 ; and
WHEREAS, the Jazz Festival Committee, which is comprised of
many volunteers throughout the City, spends countless hours
planning and organizing this highly successful event; and
WHEREAS, the greater Redding area has shown overwhelming
support for this annual Festival; and `G

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redding recognizes
the benefits the annual festivals provide the Redding community,
and, in wishing to formally recognize and support the Shasta
Dixieland Jazz Festival in its eighth year,
HEREBY PROCLAIMS MARCH 29 THROUGH APRIL 4,
1993, AS SHASTA DIXIELAND JAZZ FESTIVAL WEEK.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Redding on the 16th day of March, 1993, and was duly
adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Anderson, Arness, Dahl , Kehoe and Moss
