HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 93-038 - Commending Robert Bosworth for his serviec to Shasta Co & COR as Shasta County Supervisor for District 2 RESOLUTION NO. 93-39 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING COMMENDING ROBERT "BOB" BOSWORTH FOR HIS SERVICE TO SHASTA COUNTY AND THE CITY OF REDDING AS SHASTA COUNTY SUPERVISOR FOR DISTRICT 2 . WHEREAS, Bob Bosworth was born and raised in Shasta County where his family established themselves as pioneers in the early 1870 ' s as sheep and cattle ranchers; and WHEREAS, Bob gained a respect and appreciation of the land in Shasta County at an early age spending many days herding cattle to winter range in the Bald Hills and Cayton Valley near Burney Falls for the summer; and WHEREAS, Bob' s concern for the land eventually lead to his interest in civic affairs which was sparked when the Cottonwood Creek twin-dam project was first proposed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Bob began to focus much of his time and energy on resource and land-use issues on the local, regional and state levels; and WHEREAS, Bob Bosworth was appointed to the office of Shasta County District 2 Supervisor on April 1, 1985, and ran for the office successfully in 1986 and again in 1988 when he served as Chairman of the Board; and WHEREAS, Bob has broadened his interests and dedicated much of his time to civic endeavors, always remaining enthusiastic about service to his community by serving on such organizations as : *President of Cascade-Sierra Water Association *Chairman of Williamson Act Advisory Council for the Resources Department *Chairman of the 1086. Committee (Upper Sacramento River Riparian Habitat and Fisheries) *Member of District Technical Advisory Committee for California Department of Forestry Board *Long-Standing Member of Cattlemen' s Association *Shasta County Planning Commissioner *Central Valley Project Transfer Committee Member *Groundwater Management Subcommittee of the Agricultural Caucus-Member; and WHEREAS, Bob Bosworth has served as an effective member of the Shasta County Board of Supervisors for many years making valuable contributions to the quality of life in Shasta County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby commends Supervisor Bob Bosworth for his outstanding contributions to the community and his years of dedicated public service to his constituents, and wishes him every success in his retirement.
