A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
APPROVING THE SALE OF A PORTION OF THE BENTON RANCH BY
THE REDDING REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Redding Redevelopment Agency acquired the
Benton Ranch in 1988; and
WHEREAS, the McConnell Foundation and the Redding Elementary
School District have proposed buying approximately 201 acres and
12 acres respectively; and
WHEREAS, the property was appraised by Ryan and Associates
on December 15 , 1992, and valued at $1, 885 , 000 ; and
WHEREAS, the property is to be sold for the appraised value,
subject to the terms and conditions of the agreements which were
available for public review upon publication of the first of two
'I notices advertising the public hearing; and
WHEREAS, City Council has reviewed the terms and conditions
of the proposed sale; and
WHEREAS, the Redding Planning Commission has found that the
sale and the intended use of the property are consistent with the
Redding General Plan; and
WHEREAS, a statement of costs has been prepared and is
available for review; and
WHEREAS, notice of the intended sale of the property has
been given by publication not less than once a week for two weeks
in a newspaper of general circulation within Shasta County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Redding approves the sale of approximately 201 acres of
the Benton Ranch to the McConnell Foundation, and the sale of
approximately 12 acres of the Benton Ranch to the Redding
Elementary School District, pursuant to the agreements before the
City Council on January 19, 1993 . Council further finds that the

property is to be sold for its fair market value; that the
agreements contain the prescribed non-discriminatory and non-
segregation clauses; and that each sale is conditioned on the
redevelopment and use of the property in conformance with the
Canby-Hilltop-Cypress Redevelopment Plan.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Redding on the 19th day of January 1993, and was
duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
