HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 94-004 - Pertaining to the Record Searchlight Half Marathon to be held on Saturday, Jan 22, 1994 from 7am to 2pm in Caldwell Park on portions of the city street system RESOLUTION NO. i A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING PERTAINING TO THE RECORD SEARCHLIGHT HALF MARATHON TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 22, 1994, FROM 7 A.M. TO 2 P.M. IN CALDWELL PARR AND ON PORTIONS OF THE CITY STREET SYSTEM. WHEREAS, the Record Searchlight is sponsoring the Record Searchlight Half Marathon to be held on Saturday, January 22, 1994, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Caldwell Park and on portions of the City street system; and WHEREAS, the Police and Public Works Departments have stated that various areas need to be closed to vehicular traffic to assist in mitigating some of the impacts of such an event; and WHEREAS, staff has requested guidance as to whether the City Council wishes to close certain streets for this event, subject to the conditions referenced below, and, if so, has recommended that Riverside/Benton Drive from Center to Quartz Hill, the Eastbound lanes of Quartz Hill from Market to Harlan, and Caldwell Park be i closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, January 22, 1994, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. , and that motorized carts be allowed on the River Trail by authorized race officials to assist with race activities and provide emergency transport to race participants, if necessary; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as follows: 1 . That Council has considered the above matter and deems it to be in the best interests of the City to close certain streets to vehicular traffic during the Record Searchlight Half Marathon, v\ v SUBJECT TO the conditions set forth in the Special Event Application/Permit on file with the City Clerk. 2 . That the Chief of Police, in cooperation with the Director �\ of Public Works, is directed to prevent vehicular traffic on Riverside/Benton from Center to Quartz Hill, the Eastbound lanes of I i Quartz Hill from Market to Harlan, and Caldwell Park on Saturday, I January 22 , 1994, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 4th day of January, 1994, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Dahl, Kehoe, Moss and Anderson NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Arness ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None ROBERT ANDERSON, Vice Mayor City of Redding I A T: 1,4 CONNIE STROHMAYER, C' y Clerk FORM APPROVED: RAkDALL A.
