HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 94-270 - REO amend effective 08/28/94 and 07/02/95 to MOU RESOLUTION NO. 94- REDDING EMPLOYEES ORGANIZATION OF THE SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNIT CLERICAL, TECHNICAL, AND PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES' UNIT A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AMENDING EXHIBIT A-2 EFFECTIVE AUGUST 28, 1994, AND EXHIBIT A-3 EFFECTIVE JULY 2, 1995, TO THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BY: (1) DELETING THE CLASSIFICATION OF SECRETARY-STENO, AND ADDING SECRETARY I AND SECRETARY II; (2) DELETING THE CLASSIFICATIONS OF CLERK, INTERMEDIATE CLERK, AND SENIOR CLERK, AND ADDING CLERK I, CLERK II, AND CLERK III; (3) INCREASING THE SALARY RANGE FOR CLERK I BY FIVE PERCENT; (4) DELETING THE CLASSIFICATIONS OF INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNT CLERK AND SENIOR ACCOUNT CLERK, AND ADDING ACCOUNT CLERK I AND ACCOUNT CLERK II; AND (5) PROVIDING A SHORTHAND DIFFERENTIAL OF FIVE PERCENT FOR SECRETARIES I AND II WHO SPEND A MINIMUM OF 10 PERCENT OF THEIR WORKING TIME TAKING SHORTHAND. WHEREAS, on April 18, 1994, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 94-93 approving the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Redding and the Clerical, Technical, and Professional Employees' Unit of the Redding Employees Organization of the Service Employees International Union; and WHEREAS, on July 5, 1994, by Resolution No. 94-187, Exhibits B-2 and B-3 to the MOU were amended to include a new classification, Geographic Information System Coordinator; and WHEREAS, on this date, by Resolution No. 94-253, Exhibits A-2 and A-3 to the MOU were amended to include a new classification, Crime Analysis Technician; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Personnel Department in its accompanying Report to Council that Exhibits A-2 and A-3 to the MOU be further amended as set forth above; the proposed flexible staffing concept for the clerks, account clerks, and secretaries will provide a career-development program, and provide staffing efficiencies and substantial savings to the City; and WHEREAS, the representatives of the bargaining unit are in agreement with this recommendation; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Council hereby concurs with said recommendation, and directs that the MOU be amended by repealing Exhibits A-2 and A-3 adopted on this date by Resolution No. 94-253, and adding new Exhibits A-2 (effective August 28, 1994) and A-3 (effective July 2, 1995) as attached hereto to: 1 (1) Delete the classification of Secretary-Steno, and add Secretary I and Secretary II; (2) Delete the classifications of Clerk, Intermediate Clerk, and Senior Clerk, and add Clerk I, Clerk II and Clerk III; (3) Increase the salary range for Clerk I by five percent; (4) Delete the classifications of Intermediate Account Clerk and Senior Account Clerk, and add Account Clerk I and Account Clerk II; and (5) Provide a shorthand differential of five percent for Secretaries I and II who spend a minimum of 10 percent of their working time taking shorthand.
