HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 95-016 - Appreciation of the services for Samual McMurry to COR during service as interim CM RESOLUTION NO. 95-16 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING IN APPRECIATION OF THE SERVICES OF SAMUEL S. McMURRY TO THE CITY OF REDDING DURING HIS SERVICE AS INTERIM CITY MANAGER WHEREAS, Samuel S. McMurry has served the City Manager as Assistant City Manager with distinction; and WHEREAS, upon the resignation of the former City Manager, Samuel S. McMurry was designated as the Interim City Manager on July 3, 1994, and served in such capacity until January 4, 1995, when the new City Manager began work; and WHEREAS, the role of an Interim City Manager is always a difficult one, considering problems of supervision, continuity, advanced planning and similar considerations; and WHEREAS, Samuel S. McMurry has performed this exacting task in a thoroughly professional and competent manner; and WHEREAS, the six-month period of his service as Interim City Manager has been characterized by accomplishments in the following areas: ► Resolution of Combustion Turbine Dispute and completion of the Peaking Power Project ► The beginning of real-time scheduling of Electric Power ► Settlement of the last of Nine Contracts with Bargaining Units ► Completion of Buckeye Water Treatment Plant ► Beginning of Reno Air Express air service to Redding ► Successful co-promotion of Broadway Musical "My Fair Lady" ► Named "The Best Small City in which to do Business in California" by California Business Magazine ► Named 9th Best Place in Country for Entrepreneurs by Money Magazine ► Project Playground came to fruition as part of the first phase of Enterprise Community Park ► Construction of Corporation Yard and Solid Waste Transfer Station Projects, with Occupancy expected in the Spring NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding is most appreciative of his services and that this Resolution of Appreciation be presented to Samuel S. McMurry in recognition of this appreciation; �. i r • 0 WE HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 17th day of January, 1995, and was duly and unanimously adopted by the entire City Council assembled.
