HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 95-024 - Record Searchlight Half Marathon 01/21/95 Caldwell Park on Portions of the City Street Systems RESOLUTION NO. 95- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING PERTAINING TO THE RECORD SEARCHLIGHT HALF MARATHON TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, 1995, FROM 6 A.M. TO 3 P.M. IN CALDWELL PARK AND ON PORTIONS OF THE CITY STREET SYSTEM. WHEREAS, the Sunrise Rotary Club is sponsoring the Record Searchlight Half Marathon to be held on Saturday, January 21, 1995, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Caldwell Park and on portions of the City street system; and WHEREAS, the Police and Public Works Departments have stated that various areas need to be closed to vehicular traffic to assist in mitigating some of the impacts of such an event; and WHEREAS, staff has requested guidance as to whether the City Council wishes to close certain streets for this event, subject to the conditions referenced below, and, if so, has recommended that Riverside Drive/Benton Drive from Center Street to Quartz Hill Road, the eastbound lanes of Quartz Hill Road from Loma Street to Harlan Drive, and Caldwell Park be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, January 21, 1995 , from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. ; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council as follows: 1 . That the Council has considered the above matter and deems it to be in the best interests of the City to close certain streets to vehicular traffic during the Record Searchlight Half Marathon, SUBJECT TO the Sunrise Rotary Club complying with the following conditions set forth by the Recreation and Parks Commission: (a) An adequate insurance certificate being approved by the City' s Risk Manager by January 19, 1995. (b) The Sunrise Rotary Club being responsible for all cleanup at the Sacramento River Trail and X) Caldwell Park; and that a $300 cleanup fee be deposited with the City Clerk prior to the event, 1 ' refundable upon adequate cleanup of the area. (c) The Sacramento River Trail remaining free of permanent markings, i.e. , lime, chalk, spray paint, etc. 2 . That motorized carts be allowed on the Sacramento River Trail during the event to provide race overview and medical assistance, if necessary. 3 . That the Chief of Police, in cooperation with the Director of Public Works, is directed to prevent vehicular traffic on Riverside Drive/Benton Drive from Center Street to Quartz Hill Road, the eastbound lanes of Quartz Hill Road from Loma Street to Harlan Drive, and Caldwell Park on Saturday, January 21, 1995, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced, read, and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 17th day of January, 1995, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: P.
