HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 95-044 - COR In appreciation of the Services Samual S McMurry to COR upon the occasion of his Retirement 'r 0 RESOLUTION NO. q5-'01 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING IN APPRECIATION OF THE SERVICES OF SAMUEL S. McMURRY TO THE CITY OF REDDING UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT WHEREAS, Samuel S. McMurry has loyally served the City of Redding since November 30, 1987, and is retiring from public service, culminating 35 years of distinguished service to California cities and counties; and WHEREAS, Samuel S. McMurry, in addition to his service to the City of Redding, has served the Counties of Solano and Contra Costa and the City of Fresno in various assignments ranging from Director of Personnel and Labor Relations to Interim City Manager; and WHEREAS, during Mr. McMurry's period of service to the City of Redding, he has been responsible for the economic development program, supervision of seven Departments of the City organization, i.e., Airports, Community Development, Community Services, Customer Service, Electric, Finance and Public Works, as well as overseeing the labor relations activities; and served as Interim City Manager from July 3, 1994, to January 4, 1995, providing leadership and stability to the organization during this interim period of time; and WHEREAS,in these assignments Mr. McMurry has served the City conscientiously and professionally; and WHEREAS, Mr. McMurry's period of service was characterized by progress in the following project areas: Completion of the Stillwater Sewage Treatment Facility and Buckeye Water Treatment Plant Construction of the Corporation Yard and Transfer Station Numerous Street Improvements and Traffic Signals ) Completion of Six Electric Substations Ground Breaking on RABA Intermodal Facility Development of the Turtle Bay Park and Museum Project Secured Federal funding and developed 60-acre Airport Business Park Completion of Interagency Dispatch Facility under the Joint Powers SHASCOM Powers Agency Brought on line the 30 Megawatt Steam-Driven Turbine Generation Project Received State designation of the largest Enterprise Zone in California WHEREAS, Mr. McMurry has made contributions to the community by participation in the Redding Sunrise Rotary Club, of which he is a Charter Member, and by serving on the Board of Directors and Allocations Committee of the United Way of Shasta County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding is most appreciative of his services and that this Resolution of Appreciation be presented to Samuel S. McMurry on the occasion of his retirement; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding wishes Sam and Kay McMurry every success and good fortune in their retirement years. WE HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 21st day of February, 1995, and was duly and unanimously adopted by the entire City Council assembled.
