A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
APPROVING ENTERING INTO A FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE SHASTA AREA
SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS AGENCY (SHASCOM) JOINT POWERS
AGREEMENT, RETROACTIVE TO JULY 1, 1994; AND AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO SIGN ON BEHALF OF THE CITY.
WHEREAS, in 1990 the County of Shasta, the City of Redding, and the City of
Anderson ("Participating Agencies") entered into a Shasta Area Safety Communications
Agency (SHASCOM) Joint Powers Agreement ("Agreement") to consolidate emergency
support activities through a consolidated public safety support services agency; and
WHEREAS, the Participating Agencies wish to amend the Agreement as set forth in
a copy of the First Amendment to the SHASCOM Joint Powers Agreement ("First
Amendment") attached hereto and made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered this matter, and deems it to be in the
best interests of the City to enter into the First Amendment;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council hereby approves
entering into the First Amendment to the SHASCOM Joint Powers Agreement, retroactive
to July 1, 1994.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the First
Amendment on behalf of the City; and the City Clerk is directed to attest the
signature of the Mayor and impress the official seal of the City of Redding thereto.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced, read, and
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 7th day of February, 1995, by
the following vote:

FIRST AMENDMENT
TO
SHASTA AREA SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS AGENCY
JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT
The Participating Agencies in the Shasta Area Safety
Communications Agency hereby amend their Joint Powers Agreement
effective July 1, 1994, as follows:
Paragraph 15. 2 is amended to replace the language:
"County of Shasta - 45%
City of Redding - 45%
City of Anderson - 10%"
with language which reads:
"County of Shasta - 47.5%
City of Redding - 47.5%
City of Anderson - 5%"
Paragraph 16. 4 is added to read as follows:
"The Board of Directors, upon recommendation of the
Management Council, may provide for alternative methods
of charging for SHASCOM services, as they may determine
necessary. However any proposed alternative method of
charging for SHASCOM services which increases the cost of
any Participating Agency must be approved by the
governing body of that agency. "
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have executed this Amendment
in- Shasta County, California.
