HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 95-059 - Authorize filing of application with Economic Dev Admin, US Dept of Commerce, for Grant under terms of PW for Turtle Bay Park & Museum a RESOLUTION NO. 9 5-,fy A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION WITH THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION, UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FOR A GRANT UNDER THE TERMS OF THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1965, AS AMENDED, FOR THE TURTLE BAY PARK AND MUSEUM. WHEREAS, under the terms of the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965, as amended, the United States of America has authorized the making of grants to public bodies and private non-profit organizations or associations to aid in financing the construction of specific projects; and WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration (EDA) has sent a formal invitation to the City of Redding and the Alliance of Redding Museums to submit an application to the EDA for construction of infrastructure improvements for the Turtle Bay Park and Museum in an amount of EDA funding of $1,600,000, with a Museum contribution of $545,000, for a total project cost of $2,145,000; and WHEREAS, the City of Redding deems it necessary to apply as co-applicant with the Alliance of Redding Museums to the EDA, U.S. Department of Commerce, for a grant for public improvements to the Turtle Bay Park and Museum; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby authorizes City Manager Michael Warren to execute and file a co-application—on behalf of the City of Redding and the Alliance of Redding Museums—with the Economic Development Administration, United States Department of Commerce, for a grant to construct the Turtle Bay Park and Museum. i BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to furnish such information as the �rl �i Economic Development Administration may reasonably request in connection with the application hereby authorized; sign all required documentation; and accept the grant award. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced, read, and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 7th day of March , 1995, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: P.
