HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 95-223 - Approve App for funds for the Transportion Enhancement Activities Program under Intermodal Surgace Transp Eff Act of 1991 - Bicycle Bridge over Sac River y, �.:,, � � RESOLUTION NO. 95-ZZ3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR FUNDS FOR THE TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES PROGRAM UNDER THE INTERMODAL SURFACE TRANSPORTATION EFFICIENCY ACT OF 1991 FOR THE FOLLOWING PROJECT: CONSTRUCTING AN 820+ FOOT LONG BICYCLE BRIDGE ACROSS THE SACRAMENTO RIVER TRAII, TO CONVERT THE EXISTING SACRAMENTO RIVER TRAII, TO NON-MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION LINKS TO CONNECT PEOPLE TO ACTIVITY CENTERS IN THE CITY OF REDDING. WHEREAS, the United States Congress has enacted the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991, which is intended to provide over $200 million in federal dollars over a six-year period as matching funds to local state and federal agencies and nonprofit entities for transportation enhancement activities; and WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation has established the procedures and criteria for reviewing proposals, and is required to submit to the California Transportation Commission a list of recommended projects from which the recipients will be selected; and WHEREAS, the procedures and criteria established by the California Department of Transportation require a resolution certifying the approval of application by the applicant's governing body before submission of an application to the California Transportation Commission and the State of California; and WHEREAS, the application contains assurances that the applicant must comply with; and WHEREAS, the applicant, if selected, will enter into an agreement with the State of `� California to carry out the Transportation Enhancement Activities Project; � NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of � , Redding: 'V 1� A. Approves the filing of an application for the Transportation Enhancement `'�� Activities Program for consideration of funding to construct an 820+ foot long � . , y- � • f bridge across the Sacramento River to connect the Convention Center/Rodeo Grounds/Museum Complex to the main bicycle corridor (Project); B. Certifies that the applicant will make adequate provisions for the operation and maintenance of the Project; and C. Appoints Michael Warren, City Manager, as Agent of the City of Redding to conduct all negotiations, and execute and submit all documents, including, but not limited to, application, agreements, amendments, payment requests, and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the Project.
