HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 95-249 - Permit County Elections Offical to Render Special Serv to the City relating to electioin 03/26/96 � . • ., � � RESOLUTION NO. 95-�"_7�_ RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING REQUESTING THE SHASTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO PERMIT THE COUNTY ELECTIONS OFFICIAL TO RENDER SPECIAL SERVICES TO THE CITY RELATING TO THE CONDUCT OF A MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN REDDING ON MARCH 26 , 1996 , IN CONSOLIDATION WITH THE STATEWIDE DIRECT PRIMARY ELECTION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redding has enacted an ordinance requiring its general municipal election to be held on the same day as the statewide direct primary election, pursuant to Government Code Section 36503 . 5; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the county elections official conduct the municipal election; NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS : Section 1 . Pursuant to Elections Code Section 10002 , the Shasta County Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to permit the Shasta County Elections Official to provide election services to the City of Redding for the Municipal Election to be held on March 26 , 1996 , including, but not limited to, the following: a. The publication of all required legal notices pertaining to the election. b. Recruit precinct workers and securing polling places . c . Encoding of ballots for computer count, providing for a test run, appointment of an Accuracy and Logistics Board to certify computer proqramming for ballot tabulation, � tabulation of unofficial election results . d. Verifying absent voter ballot application signatures, and processing of absent voter pamphlets . e. Provision for sale of indexes of registered voters . f . Labeling of sample ballot pamphlets . g. Precinct worker training. h. Provision of election supplies, including voting booths, tables, chairs , voting devices , flags and other related items . i . Any other services reasonably reguired to conduct the election. � The City Clerk will provide for the issuance and receipt of � nomination papers and the City Clerk will continue to be the filing � official for campaign statements . ( ^ \J 1 I Section 2 . The City shall reimburse the County for its ` services performed when the work is completed and upon presentation � to the City of a bill for the service . � � ,� . I, , ,r � . . Section 3 . The City Clerk is directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of Supervisors and to the County Elections Department. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 7th day of November, 1995, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote: AYES : COUNCIL MEMBERS : P.
