RESOLUTION NO. 96-�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING APPROVING A LAW ENFORCEMENT AND
EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE REDDING POLICE
DEPARTMENT AND THE ENTERPRISE AND REDDING SCHOOL
DISTRICTS.
WHEREAS, it has been demonstrated in a pilot program that the dedication of a police officer to
school district campuses is an effective partnership to work toward the elimination of truancy, and to
educate parents on gang member recognition and early warning signs of narcotic use and other critical
areas affecting school district campuses; and
WHEREAS, the Redding Police Department, the Enterprise School District and the Redding
School District have formulated a plan to share the cost of a uniformed police officer to be placed on the
school districts' campuses, as set forth in the accompanying Report to City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Redding Police is authorized to dedicate a
full-time police officer to the school districts for the purposes of dealing with truancy, violence, gangs,
racism, and other safe school issues.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Police Department is authorized to implement the
partnership program immediately, based upon the representations by the Enterprise School District and
the Redding School District that each will pay $8,000 toward the cost of the program by January 31,
1996.
I HEREBY CERTIFI' that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read, and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council on the 2nd day of January, 1996, by the following vote:
