RESOLUTION NO. 96- //�'
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF POLICE PORTABLE RADIOS FROM
MOTOROLA, NOT TO EXCEED $75,800.00, PURSUANT TO MUNICIPAL
CODE SECTION 4.20.120(H)(2).
WHEREAS, the City purchased and installed an 800 MHZ radio system in 1988/89; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is the primary user of the system, and is currently involved
in a multi-year program of purchasing portable radios with upgraded capabilities; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting Council approval to purchase additional police
portable radios with extended microphones and chargers, in an amount not to exceed $75,800; and
WHEREAS, inasmuch as the 800 MHZ system and related equipment is unique in being a
computer programmed and engineered by Motorola Communications & Electronics Inc. (Motorola),
using proprietary and personality information for each individual radio, staff has recommended that the
necessary equipment be purchased from Motorola, as the only available source; and
WHEREAS, funds are available for this purchase;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council that:
1. The Council finds and declares that there is only one available source, Motorola, that can supply
the necessary radio equipment for the 800 MHZ radio system programmed and engineered by
Motorola.
2. Pursuant to Redding Municipal Code Section 4.20.120(H)(2), the Council authorizes the
purchase of police portable radios with extended microphones and chargers from Motorola in an
amount not to exceed $75,800.
3. The City Manager is authorized to execute the necessary documentation, and the City Clerk is
directed to attest his signature and affix the official seal of the City.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 4 th day of June , 1996, by
the following vote:
